6) What is a typical day at Winston like?
Campers arrive by 9am, or 8am, if enrolled in Extended Day.
There are seven activity/sports/crafts periods per day. Campers
rotate with their bunk to activities, enabling them to participate
in each activity at least two to three times per week. Campers
also select personal favorite activities, or "Specialties" each day.
Each afternoon, a hot lunch is served by grade.
Swim Instruction is given two to three times per week.
Each bunk also has a daily General Swim.
At the end of each day, afternoon announcements include
"Who did something special?" where counselors share their
bunks' accomplishments. We also announce upcoming events
and activities. At 4pm, buses depart or campers are picked up.
By 5pm, Extended Day campers are picked up.
7) What do campers have for lunch?
A hot lunch is included daily at no additional cost.
We serve a kid-friendly menu which includes pizza, chicken
nuggets, hot dogs, chicken cutlets, and a pasta dish each week.
A salad bar with 8-10 items is available during each meal.
For campers who are picky eaters, there is tuna, hard-boiled
eggs, or a bagel with cheese available daily.
Dessert and fresh fruit are also available at each meal.
Campers may not bring their own lunch to camp. With the
selection above, we are confident that the children will find
something they like. We will meet most special dietary needs
(kosher, allergies, lactose intolerant). An afternoon snack of
ice cream or ices is also included at no additional cost.
